The Sun May Decrease Acidity that Leads to Breast Cancer

Staying out of the sun may prevent the crystallization
of acids on the skin causing cancer and wrinkles, but
it may also be increasing a woman's risk of developing
breast cancer.

A new study found that the lower the levels of
vitamin D in a woman's blood stream, the greater
her risk of developing cancerous breasts if she
is past menopause. Since most vitamin D comes
from sunlight on exposed skin being converted
into vitamin D, avoiding the sun may be setting
up older women for cancerous breasts.

Researchers from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.,
studied 1,179 healthy women, ages 55 and older.
They were divided into groups and given either
supplements of calcium and vitamin D, calcium alone,
or a placebo. At the end of four years, the women
who took calcium and vitamin D had less than half
the risk of developing breast cancer than those who
took a placebo.

When women who developed cancerous breasts during the
first year of the study were eliminated, since they
probably had cancer that was present but undetected
when the study began, the results were even more
impressive. The rate of breast cancer in the group
taking both calcium and vitamin D was reduced by
more than three quarters.

Researchers said their findings underscored the
importance of keeping high levels of vitamin D in
the body. But so many women avoid the sun out of
fear of wrinkles and skin cancer, many aren't getting
the levels of vitamin D their body needs for optimum
health.

Cedric Garland of the University of California at
San Diego suggests that women should get 10 to 15
minutes of sun exposure daily without sunscreen as
well as take additional supplements to make sure
they are getting adequate amounts of vitamin D.

If you are spending more then 10 to 15 minutes a day
in the sun you may want to increase your alkaline
fruits and vegetables and reduce your acidic foods and
drinks, especially animal proteins, dairy, grains and
alcohol. This will help reduce the dietary acid load
coming through the pores of the skin that can interact
with the rays of the sun causing wrinkles and cancerous
skin.

To increase your alkaline fruits and vegetables may
I suggest supplementing with pHruits and pHolage.

You can also protect your skin from acidic residues
interacting with the rays of the sun by using
Young pHorever pHilter Products. Dr. Robert O.
Young has developed a sunscreen product that
will also moisturize the skin and also provide
Vitamin D topically.
