I am always so grateful when I learn of another scientist - even an oncologist by the name of Dr Tuillio Simoncini, who is using alkaline principals, even the alkaline salt sodium bicarbonate to eradicate cancerous tumors, oral cancers, neurological disorders in children (autism) and improvingover-all patient health and fitness.

In an article by Dr. Tuillo Simoncini he statesthat, 'It is useful to consider the extreme sensitivity of fungi to saline and electrolytic solutions. Dr. Tullio Simoncini has also stated, 'we might identify sodium bicarbonate as an emergency medicine for cancer . . . cancer seems to grow slowly in a highly acid environment (because the acids cause it to partially destroy itself) andmay actually grow more quickly as your body becomes more alkaline prior to reaching the healthy pH slightly above 7.4 where the cancer becomes dormant. Therefore it is important to get the pH above 7.4 as quickly as possible. Once one has achieved a pH above 7.4, it is usefrul to monitor saliva pH regularly to ensure that the body remains sufficiently alkaline.'

Sodium bicarbonate is the chemical compoundwith the formula of NaHCO3. Sodium bicarbonate(baking soda) is commonly used as an antacid for short-term relief of stomach upset, to correct acidosis in kidney disorders, to make the urine alkaline during bladder infections and to minimize uric acid crystallization during gout treatment. This is largely because oral cancer is most frequently discovered in its later stages, when the survival rate is only 20 to 30 percent and often only when it has grown and spread to a more readily noticeable region outside the mouth, such as the lymph nodes of the neck. With early detection through opportunistic screenings and the use of tools like the ViziLite and VELscope, Gentle Dental affiliated providers are working to increase the number of cases caught in the earliest, highly survivable stages of the cancer.

Several lifestyle and chemical factors increase the risk for oral cancer, including tobacco and alcohol use. Prolonged exposure to sunlight is the primary cause of cancers of the lip. There is also evidence that the same version of the sexually transmitted Human Papilloma Virus (HPV16), already known as the primary cause of cervical cancers, is a factor in the increasing number of oral cancer cases involving younger, non-smoking patients.

Because early detection greatly improves chances of survival, all family members over 18 should be screened yearly, and more often should they engage in known risk factors such as tobacco use.
